Trafo Centre for Contemporary Art, tickets: PLN 60 available on Bilety.fm

You might think you’ve heard it all, but when you listen to Iris Bergcrants, a young singer and composer, you’ll experience a whole new dimension of vocal jazz.

The Iris Bergcrantz Quintet is a family ensemble – Iris’s father, Anders Bergcrantz, plays the trumpet, her mother, Anna Lena Laurin, is on keyboards, and Iris sings. They’ve been touring all her life and the first joint projects as the Anna Lena Laurin Quintet go back to the 1990s, when Iris was only four years old. In 2014, when Iris grew up and became ready, she started her own band. She invited her parents onto the quintet, which was an obvious choice. The band also features Johan Kolsut on drums, and Iris’s fiancé, Anders Fjeldsted, on double bass. Since its inception, the band has played at numerous festivals and in a number of music clubs across Sweden, Germany and Denmark. Now they are preparing concerts in the Czech Republic, Poland and Estonia, as well as their first performance in the US at the Rochester International Jazz Festival.

This will be the 7th Me.Ba international music meeting. The event was created with a view to integrate the musical cultures of countries from the basins of the Baltic Sea and the Mediterranean Sea (Mediterranean + Baltic = Me.Ba).
