Locality, seasonality, community - how the SYTObrunch project implements the idea of New Nordic Cuisine

  • Magdalena Gogłoza, SYTObrunch
  • Anna Szymańska, nutrition educator, Meraki

Can the New Nordic Cuisine manifesto be translated into everyday life and local action? Using the SYTObrunch project as an example, Magdalena Gogłoza, the project's author, will discuss how a shared table, seasonality, and an attention to local values build not only taste but also relationships. This is a conversation about how true luxury in our times is closer than we think.

After the short presentation, a conversation with Anna Szymańska, a nutritional educator, creator of the Meraki brand, and co-owner of the Mozaika café, is also planned.

Magdalena Gogłoza - An event producer and initiator of socio-cultural projects, she created the SYTObrunch project, which has organized over 60 meetings for Szczecin residents. SYTO is an idea that brings people together at a shared table through plant-based cuisine, conversation, and mindful togetherness, in unconventional spaces in the city. The project builds community, relationships, and shows Szczecin from a different, more immediate and local perspective. She is currently developing the GESTY Fair, a curated event combining design, craft, and culture, which strengthens the local creative community and builds an informed audience.

May 2026
Photographic exhibition entitled: „Norwegian Cycles”

Why Norway? Norway is a photographer's paradise, especially its northern part. Rugged mountains, whose peaks are capped with snow even in summer, meet the turquoise sea. Glaciers with blue tongues flow down the slopes, and the pervasive silence enhances the feeling of communing with nature in its pristine form. It's an almost untouched landscape—Norwegians take great care of their environment, protecting its authenticity and beauty. All this is enveloped in the extraordinary light of sunrises and sunsets. It's also the time of the Midnight Sun—the moment when the sun never disappears below the horizon, and the golden hours last almost endlessly. A kingdom of light that gives these places a unique, almost magical character. That's Norway. Photographs by: Jolanta Lalak, Piotr Kaźmierczak, Paweł Kozanecki - members of the Zamek Photo Club. The exhibition will be available for free viewing in the lobby of the "Klub Skolwin" Cultural Centre throughout May.

Family workshops entitled The City of Good Connections

On the 9th of May at 12:00 PM, as part of the free series "The Whole Family go to Słowianin," we invite you to a workshop titled "The City of Good Connections."

In response to this year's Scandinavian Days theme: "WELL CONNECTED – Connected through health," we will organize a practical, intergenerational event. We want to demonstrate that the foundations of a healthy urban ecosystem are strong social relationships and respect for the environment – values deeply rooted in the culture of the Nordic countries.

As part of our free series, we will invite families from Szczecin to creative workshops during which we will design and build a spatial model of the city together. We will use recycled materials for the construction. This creative process will allow us to literally and symbolically build a network of connections – between family members, event participants, as well as people and nature. We will demonstrate in practice how, from individual, unnecessary elements, we can create a cohesive, healthy urban fabric in which cooperation, innovation, and responsibility for the environment support each other.
