„Elves and trolls. A podcast about the North”

podcast about Nordic art and culture hosted by four lovers of the North, art historians and Scandinavian studies: Agnes Ársól Bikowska, Kinga Eysturland, Emiliana Konopka and Anna Prorok.

The idea for the podcast comes from the Nordic tradition of kvöldvak, or evening storytelling. Each episode takes the audience to a different place: Iceland, Faroe Islands or Norway, and presents stories derived from local folklore.

The starting point for the story being told is a work of art: a painting or sculpture by an artist from the North. However, the illustration accompanying the narrative is only an invitation to stimulate the imagination of the audience. The main part of the episode is a story hidden behind works of art, a folk tale or a myth taking place in the far North.

Screening of the film "Gunda", dir. Wiktor Kossakowski

"Gunda", the sensation of the Berlin festival, is more just a movie. It is an intimate encounter with the beings who live next to us. It is an expression of solidarity with animals, a testimony of care, a request for forgiveness, a discreet appeal to our sensitivity. And finally, "pure cinema, a healing elixir", says director Paul Thomas Anderson, delighted with the work of Kossakowski. The screening will be preceded by a lecture prepared and delivered by Krzysztof Spór.

Oniryczny, a przy tym serwujący co chwilę gwałtowne pobudki islandzki „Lamb" to kolejny po „Midsommar. W biały dzień", „Dziedzictwie.

Screening of the film "Lamb" dir. Valdimar Jóhannsson

The most original film of 2021 is a wild child of horror and dark fairy tales, born in a land where it is impossible to distinguish day from night, good from evil, and human from animal. The dreamy, and at the same time serving violent motives, Icelandic "Lamb" is another, after "Midsommar. In broad daylight", "Hereditary" or "The Lighthouse", a hit branded by the American studio A24, specializing in genre cinema in a highly refreshed version. The screening will be preceded by a lecture prepared and delivered by Krzysztof Spór.

Gunhild Carling & Carling Family concert

The Swedish Star of the world-class Gunhild Carling will appear in the Jazzment Club in Szczecin, together with the Carling Family band, which will play an exclusive concert for Szczecin fans of jazz and swing as a summary of the Scandinavian Days celebration in our city.

Multi-instrumentalist Gunhild Carling from Gothenburg, hailed the Swedish queen of swing, is famous for playing three trumpets at the same time (!!!), and also on the trombone, bagpipes, trumpet, stringed instruments (such as banjo, ukulele and harp). Additionally, by tapping and singing, she often presents all her skills in one song.

Carling was a participant in the Swedish edition of the programs: Got talent (2017), Dancing with the stars (2014), and America’s Got Talent (2019). She presented her talent many times for the King of Sweden, Charles XVI Gustaf.

Gunhild acts as a singer and multi-instrumentalist in an unusual stage project of a global nature, which is the postmodern jukebox scotta bradlee, where songs from the charts such as "Dancing Queen" by Abba, "The Final Countdown" by Europe, or "Happy" by Pharrel Williams turn into retro swing and vintage versions of the 1920s.
